Judy Corcoran is a writer, editor, designer, proofreader, project manager, webmaster and book publisher, working with everyone from major media companies and non-profits to individual clients and pets.

Taught grammar by nuns and determined to never analyze English literature again, Judy ran off to the Hartt College of Music at the University of Hartford as a classical guitar major. Wandering over to the student-run radio station, she discovered her management skills and was soon elected to the leadership position as the FM station’s General Manager.

After college, Judy moved to New York City and transferred her communication skills to the world of publishing, where she devoured “how-to write” books the way most did novels. Landing at various magazines and working her way up from a secretary to Research Manager, Sales Promotion Manger, Ad Sales Executive and Integrated Marketing Director, she left the 9 to 5 world in 1992, starting her own business, Gray Productions, so she could work 6am to midnight. She and her daughter did their “homework” together and both got high grades.

Classes at NYU, the New School, Gotham Writer’s Workshop and more how-to books led her to a prosperous career of freelance writing, reporting and editing assignments  and to various “maternity fill-in” positions at publishing companies such as Time Inc., Hearst, Meredith, Condé Nast and Hachette and nearly every known consumer magazine. Judy was often hired to step into a fast-paced work place for two months and  kept on for 12, with many repeat gigs.

The freelance life allowed Judy to always have a project on the back burner. She began working with books at this time and is the author, co-author, or editor of many  books, including the best-selling, Joint Custody with a Jerk: Raising a Child with an Uncooperative Ex, and the critically acclaimed, Fred Corcoran: The Man Who Sold the World on Golf, and her latest, The Has-Beens Cup,  about the 1941 golf match between baseball legends Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth, which she hopes someday becomes a screenplay.
